Book Report

My book report was on Hetty Feather.

Author: Jacqueline Wilson
pages: 394

Hetty feather is a foundling, she lives in the foundling hospital where she has been for the past five years. She hates the life of a foundling and is very naughty and mischievous. She has a fiery temper and is always open about her opinions. Her wonder about the outside world sometimes gets her into trouble.

The matrons at the hospital are rough and horrid and dislike hetty out of all of the foundlings. They punish her for no reason, and act like she’s a horrid girl in front of other people. The matrons are rude and have horrible manners.

Hetty feather dislikes the matrons because they mistreat her and always put the teachers first not the students. The matrons dislike Hetty because she sticks up for the students and gives the teachers a piece of her mind. Most of the time Hetty usually gets things wrong and over reacts.

Hetty feather is set in the 1800s ,in a foundling hospital. It is a grey ,dull and boring building. It has a girls side and a boys side and the boys and girls never see each other. There is only one dorm for the boys and one dorm for the girls. No wonder hetty feather hated the foundling hospital.

Hetty feather grows up for her first five years in a foster home,in the countryside. With her humble foster mother and father. There she is happy and settled and feels like it's her home. But before she knows she gets taken away to the foundling hospital, with her brother  Gideon. There at the foundling hospital she has to fend for herself and stick up for others. The one thing she wants is to find her true mother but her mother might be closer to her than she thinks.
The most exciting part in the story is at the end when she finds her real mother. But it’s sad because they have to keep it a secret. You feel really emotional because in the book she has always been dreaming about the day she meets her mother.

In the end she finds her mother and also finds out her real name.It leaves you on a cliff hanger and makes you want to read the next book in the series. It makes you want to cry at the end.

I think the message is to never stop believing and never give up.
